Veneers in Gaithersburg

What Are Veneers?

Do you wish you could transform the appearance of your teeth to cover up cosmetic imperfections, asymmetrical teeth, and have a more youthful smile? Thanks to porcelain veneers, you can!

A veneer is a porcelain cover that is bonded to the front teeth to create the illusion of a perfectly symmetrical, straight, and uniform smile. Veneers are used to cover up various issues with the teeth such as discoloration in the long term.

They last for up to 15 years because they’re made of durable and strong materials. They look and feel like natural teeth and do wonders for our patients’ confidence. Contact us at Lifetime Smile today to schedule a consultation.

How It Works: The Veneer Placement Process

Dr. Bhasin will examine your teeth and take x-rays to rule out the possibility of oral health problems. Depending on the strength of your enamel and the condition of your teeth, she will decide if you are a suitable candidate.

First, we will administer local anesthesia to numb your mouth. This prevents pain sensation.

To create enough space for the veneer, we need to remove .5 mm of your tooth enamel by filing it down with a dental drill. This is proportional to the thickness of the veneer.

After filing your tooth down, we will take impressions of your teeth. These impressions are sent to a dental lab along with a shade that we color match your natural teeth to with a shade guide.

Veneer Fabrication

The dental lab will use your impressions and the recorded shade to create a veneer that will perfectly fit over your teeth and match your natural tooth shade. This process takes about 3 weeks.

Once we have received your veneers, you will return to our office to have a fitting to check that the veneers look and feel just right. Then, the veneers are bonded to your teeth.

Who Is a Good Candidate for Veneers?

Tooth Discoloration

The most common issue that patients face is tooth discoloration from years of consuming staining foods and drinks or smoking. A veneer is a tooth-colored cover that is opaque enough to cover up severe stains.

Damaged Teeth

Another common imperfection is small chips, cracks, or eroded enamel. When damage is severe, you will need a dental crown. However, if the damage is mostly a cosmetic issue, veneers not only cover this up but also strengthen the tooth.

Oddly Shaped & Sized Teeth

Many of us have at least one or a few teeth that we don’t like the look of. Maybe you have teeth that are too small, sharp, short, or jagged. Whatever your reason is, veneers will transform your odd-looking teeth into whatever aesthetic you’ve always wanted.

Minor Orthodontic Problems

Severely crooked teeth and misaligned bites require orthodontic treatment to fix. However, if you have some small gaps you want to close, slightly crooked teeth, or one tooth that is disrupting your tooth alignment, you can save thousands on orthodontic treatment by covering this up with veneers which will create the illusion of perfectly straight teeth.
